 12 Major Traffic Violations You Must Know in Korea!

Even if you settle with the victim after an accident,
you can still face criminal charges if your accident involves one of these 12 serious violations.
(As stated in Article 3, Clause 2 of the “Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents.”)

 The 12 Major Violations:
1️⃣ Ignoring traffic signals or signs
2️⃣ Crossing the centerline
3️⃣ Speeding more than 20 km/h over the limit
4️⃣ Illegal overtaking or sudden lane changes
5️⃣ Violating railroad crossing rules
6️⃣ Failing to yield to pedestrians at a crosswalk
7️⃣ Driving without a valid license
8️⃣ Drunk driving
9️⃣ Driving on sidewalks
 Failing to prevent passenger falls
1️⃣1️⃣ Violations in school zones
1️⃣2️⃣ Driving without securing cargo properly

⚖️ Penalty:
➡️ Up to 5 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 20 million KRW
